Strength Training

To be successful as an athlete in any sport there is a fine balance between strength and flexibility that the athlete’s body needs to maintain. At First Class Gymnastics we have developed a program that will work both strength and flexibility. The children will start with a proper warm up in order to get the heart rate up to a productive level. During this time they will be doing many different types of running, sprinting, and jumping activities. This will improve the child’s endurance, speed, and running technique. They will then work in circuits doing different types of conditioning skills (i.e. push-ups, pull-ups, dips, and sit-ups). The circuits will work on development of many different muscles using the gymnast's own body weight. There may be usage of light weights. They will conclude their practice with flexibility training. During this time, they will be doing cool down exercises to lower the heart rate and stretch the muscles. Flexibility is extremely important at the end of a workout when the muscles are very tight from the exercises just completed. If you follow a regimented program and train consistently, your results will be outstanding!
